Kathleen Rafferty PT, DPT

Certified in Rehabilitation Administration

Kathleen is co-owner of South Mountain Physical Therapy and has over 25 years of clinical experience. She started her career as a Health and Physical Education Teacher and Athletic Trainer after recieving her BS in Exercise and Sport Science from Penn State University in 1990. She has worked with the Penn State baseball, fencing, and mens’ gymnastics teams and has also worked with dancers and entertainers at Hersheypark as an athletic trainer.  She taught HPE K-12 in her hometown school of Hershey, and worked with children in the schools with various disabilities. 

Kathleen received her MPT from Hahnemann University (now Drexel University) in 1995 and has worked in various settings including schools, home health, acute rehabilitation hospitals, acute care hospitals. For the past 20 years, she has worked in outpatient orthopedic settings in Lancaster and Reading areas. She has been with South Mountain Physical Therapy for 11 years and is a co-owner for the past 6 years.

Kathleen has recently completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Montana.  She also has attained a Rehabiliation Administrator certificate from UMT.  

She has experience with a broad range of injuries and conditions, and is also trained in vestibular rehabilitation (vertigo) and TMJ pain. She enjoys working with people of all ages and working in an environment where the quality of patient care is the first priority and where she shares ideas and knowledge with her peers. She enjoys connecting with patients and developing a relationship of partnership in providing care.  She is a member of the APTA and PPTA. 

Outside of work, she enjoys being outside whenever possible, camping, hiking, boating and kayaking with her husband and getting together with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoys visiting her family from her hometown of Hershey.
